Blood Moon Eclipse with a Drone? Yellow Rose Drones was flying in Downtown San Antonio

May 15, 2022 was the night of the Blood Moon Eclipse, or so they claimed.   It was a big nothing burger in the end, but we had lots of fun despite the high wind gusts up at 300+ feet above the downtown area.   It can be a challenge to fly downtown with the winds whipping around the taller buildings, but our drones can handle it easily.    We couldn’t capture much of the eclipse from the ground cameras on tripods, but we did manage to capture some footage with the Autel Evo 2 Pro 6k drone…  This camera has awesome low light capabilities and the drone is very stable in winds up to 30-35mph.

We did this mission just for the fun of it, despite the late night and sketchy neighborhood.  We found an empty but accessible well lit parking lot with lots of room around us for safety purposes.  We used up a half of dozen drone batteries to stay in the air over the eclipse time frame.
