The Great Northwest Community Improvement Association is the largest single HOA in the San Antonio metro area. They have been hosting a Polar Bear Plunge (or Swim) for around 30 years or so, on the 1st day of the new year. There have been a few years when the weather didn’t cooperate and fear of liability or injury caused their Board of Directors to cancel the event, but that didn’t happen very often. Weather this year was in the low 70’s (F), but had the event happened 24 hours later, the temperature would have been in the upper 30’s instead.
For this year’s event, we used a combination of footage from the Autel Evo 2 Pro drone and a GoPro Hero 10 camera on a selfie stick. Diego was one of the volunteers for the event and the Rec Director, Mike, volunteered him to help me with the recording. After very brief instructions on which way to point the camera, Diego did a pretty darn good job for dipping a $600 camera in the pool for us. We were very impressed by the quality of audio and video captured with this camera.
